About Steve Dechan

Born in Scotland and raised in Glasgow, Steve Dechan learned the values of customer service, retail, and hard work from a young age. Steve’s early life saw him work in sales, insurance, and later commercial banking.

Steve’s first venture into his own business was establishing the UK’s 2nd largest student and travel insurer, which he later sold. Following a break, he then took his first steps into the medical world by investing in a start-up urology business. This was his first exposure to medical devices and offered him the chance to develop experience across distribution, IP deals and working as a medical rep. It also offered a unique chance to understand clinical settings and the relationships between patients, clinicians, and industry.

Following this period Steve then build up his career in medical devices in several companies, working with products in the vascular and radiology space, across international settings. During this period Steve found a particular passion for distribution, and sought to understand further the way medical device distribution was run in the UK and how the system could be improved.
